South Africans overseas - We can’t do this without you!
Dear South African abroad,
The start of voting weekend for South Africans overseas is just hours away.
This means that you have the privilege of joining the rescue mission of South Africa. This election is our most important since 1994, and your vote can quite literally make history.
South Africa under ANC governance now faces the complete collapse of state institutions, rampant crime, electricity black-outs, water cuts, failing ports, and rapidly deteriorating towns and cities.
Against every measure the ANC has failed South Africa, and time is running out to rescue our country.
Just yesterday we learnt that President Cyril Ramaphosa will sign the National Health Insurance (NHI) bill into law this week. This, despite the fact that the country cannot afford it, and the only consequence will be the destruction of those elements of the health system that currently work.
We know that the NHI has little to do with improving healthcare. It is about extracting billions from taxpayers and creating another huge State-Owned Entity which the ANC cadres will loot.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) is the only party that is strong enough, honest enough and experienced enough to steer South Africa on a new trajectory.
We have a plan to rescue South Africa from state collapse, but we can’t do this without you!
With your vote, we CAN fix what is broken, just as we have done in Cape Town and the Western Cape, where we govern with an outright majority.
A full outline of our manifesto and bold election plans can be found here. Our manifesto tackles every pressing issue in our country from crime, education and corruption to load-shedding, poverty and healthcare.
With 78 000 South Africans registered to vote overseas in 2024, YOU have the power to elect two MPs to the National Assembly and turn the tide for South Africa.
Please remember that the following dates and times apply to voting overseas depending on where you are in the world:
17 May: Algeria, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Kuwait, Palestine, Saudi Arabia and Syria
18 May: Everywhere else
18 & 19 May: London only
Yours sincerely,
Helen Zille
Chairperson of DA Federal Council
